JMT Day 18: Trail Camp to Whitney Portal

When I woke up at Trail Camp, the marmots were already getting ready for their day's adventures of chewing their ways into people's tents, then eating their food and pooping on their gear for good measure.

I started down the trail, which, to be honest, sucked. It was steep and rocky, making it hard on the knees and difficult to hike on. It got better after Outpost Camp. At least there were nice flowers, but it was not nearly as good as it was when I was there last year in early July.

Shooting Stars

I have to hike HOW MUCH to get down?
Ugh, it's still so far away. You can see Outpost Camp and Lone Pine Lake down there.

At the bottom, I was so proud of my wonderful accomplishment.... Going up and down Mt Whitney without needing a WAG bag!

Day 17 miles hiked: 6.1
Day 17 elevation gain: 0 ft
Total Distance Hiked to date: 140.7 mi
Total JMT distance hiked SOBO to date: 95 mi

All of my JMT photos can be seen here.
